Journey to Oprah

On November 20, 2009 Oprah announced that she was ending her show in it’s 25th season. I, along with a lot of other people in the WORLD, was pretty devastated to hear of this, but I know I also felt very happy that she was able to take this next journey in her life. Her exact reasoning for ending the show was this:

Said Winfrey: “I love this show. This show has been my life. And I love it enough to know when it’s time to say goodbye. Twenty-five years feels right in my bones, and it feels right in my spirit. It’s the perfect number—the exact right time. So I hope that you will take this 18-month ride with me right through to the final show.”

Winfrey continued, “So, the countdown to the end of The Oprah Winfrey Show starts now, and until that day in 2011 when it ends, I intend to soak up every meaningful, joy-filled moment with you.”

As tears rolled down my face I also had a feeling I couldn’t shake in my heart and it reminded me of the promise that I had made to myself. I wanted to BE on the Oprah show (not just attend a show) and actually be able to talk with her and explain to much how much of a part of my life that she felt the audience was a part of hers if not more…

With only 18 months (at the time of this post) left for this to happen, I thought how could I EVER do something spectacular enough to land me there…and then this blog was born. I don’t know where this is going to take me, I have no idea if I’ll even be close, but I know that the one thing that I have learned from her and other people that I admire is that you HAVE to visualize it, and keep going no matter how pointless it may feel at the time, and so I continue writing and sharing me through my writing and hope to meet other people with the same goals.

So each day I hope to post something of value that I learn from Oprah, or her site, or something, as not a reason to be a “groupie” or anything, but as an appreciation piece and through the gift of knowledge, inspiration and enlightenment that Oprah gives daily through her show, document how I’m growing as an individual. I hope to reach others in this journey of mine.
